GOD’S COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM AND THE BLESSING OF ALL NATIONS THROUGH ISRAEL
"God’s Plan to Bless the World Through Israel"
God’s Covenant with Abraham and the Blessing of All Nations Through Israel
The story of God’s covenant with Abraham marks a pivotal moment in the history of salvation and God’s plan for humanity. In Genesis 12:1–3, the LORD called Abram—whose name He later changed to Abraham—to leave his country, his family, and his father’s house for a land God would show him. In this divine command, God revealed a profound promise:
“Depart from your country, your kindred, and your father’s house to a land that I will show you.I will make of you a great nation,I will bless you,and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you,and curse those who curse you,and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”(Genesis 12:1–3, ESV)
The Seven Promises to Abraham
God promised Abraham that if he obeyed and followed Him, He would:
-
Make him a great nation
-
Bless him
-
Make his name great
-
Make him a blessing
-
Bless those who bless him
-
Curse those who curse him
-
Bless all families of the earth through him
These promises were not only for Abraham but were reaffirmed to his son Isaac (Genesis 26:3–4) and his grandson Jacob, whose name God changed to Israel (Genesis 35:10–12). The nation of Israel today descends from Jacob’s twelve sons, symbolizing the twelve tribes of Israel.
God’s Plan to Bless the World Through Israel
The seventh promise reveals God’s grand design to bless all nations through Israel. This blessing was ultimately fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who came as the Savior of mankind (Matthew 1:1–16). Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection made it possible for all people, regardless of tribe or nation, to be reconciled with God and become His children (Galatians 3:26–29).
However, God also warned in promises five and six that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed. This divine protection underscores the special place Israel holds in God’s redemptive plan.
Jesus: The Fulfillment of God’s Covenant
Two thousand years after these promises, Jesus was born from the lineage of Jacob as the Savior of mankind (Luke 3:23–38). Humanity, fallen into sin through disobedience (Romans 3:23) and under Satan’s influence, was estranged from God. Only through Jesus’ sacrifice can people be cleansed and justified before God (Ephesians 1:7).
The Bible teaches that all people are sinners and under Satan’s dominion, and no one is eligible for God’s mercy unless washed clean by the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7).
The World’s Division Over Israel
In our modern world, we see a growing divide: those who love Israel and those who hate Israel. Loving Israel means loving Jesus because salvation is tied to our relationship with the Lord God of Israel and His Son (John 14:6). Israel is the apple of God’s eye, chosen by Him to bring salvation to a fallen creation.
“If your sons keep My covenant and My testimony that I will teach them, their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever. For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation.‘This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.’”(Psalm 132:12–14)
God’s protection over Israel is fierce: anyone who harms Israel will face His wrath.
“For whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye.Behold, I will wave My hand over them, and they shall become plunder for their slaves. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.”(Zechariah 2:8–9)
Israel’s Endurance and God’s Judgment on Nations
Throughout history, many empires have tried to destroy Israel—Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and more. Yet, they have vanished while Israel remains, growing stronger with time. This endurance is a testament to God’s covenant and protection.
America once supported Israel and was blessed for it, but many have since turned away. Sadly, some Jews, like George Soros, and many lukewarm Christians, act against Israel’s interests, deceiving others just as Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus (Matthew 26:14–16). Many non-believers are unaware of the spiritual battle around them and unknowingly align against God’s plan.
Jesus warned:
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”(Matthew 7:13–15)
The Hatred of the World and the Believer’s Calling
Jesus said:
“If the world hates you, know that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.But because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”(John 15:18–19)
The blessings that the world receives—even those given to Israel’s enemies—are ultimately linked to blessing Israel. This is not because Israel is great in itself, but because their God is great and has a plan to save all the earth through them.
Yet the world often curses Israel instead, choosing destruction over blessing. God’s judgment awaits those who hate His chosen people and His Son.
God’s Secret Blessings
The well-being and blessings of those who oppose Israel depend on their willingness to bless and respect Israel. God’s wonderful blessings are reserved for those who obey Him and honor His covenant people.
All the secrets of God’s blessings are hidden within His Word. Sadly, many have been deceived and do not understand these blessings. But for the chosen ones who seek God through Jesus Christ, these promises remain a source of hope and power.
Final Message
God’s covenant with Abraham is not just an ancient promise; it is the foundation of God’s redemptive plan for humanity. Israel remains central in this divine plan. Blessing Israel aligns us with God’s purposes, while opposing Israel brings judgment. Let us love Israel, embrace Jesus, and seek to walk in God’s truth.
Amen!
