EXPOSING THE FALSE CATHOLIC TEACHINGS ABOUT MOTHER MARY: WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY SAYS
Introduction:
The Truth About Mary from a Biblical Perspective
Mother Mary, A Mortal, needs a Saviour
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was undeniably a blessed and faithful woman chosen by God for a divine purpose. However, many Catholic teachings have elevated her to a position the Bible never endorses—introducing unbiblical doctrines that distort her role and contradict Scripture. In this blog post, we’ll separate biblical truth from Catholic tradition and explore what the Word of God really says about Mary.
The Spirit-Filled Encounter: Mary Visits Elizabeth
Scripture Reference: Luke 1:39–45
After receiving the angel Gabriel's message, Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist. Upon Mary’s greeting, John leaped in Elizabeth's womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, declaring:
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”– Luke 1:42
Even before Jesus was born, His divine identity was affirmed. But note—Elizabeth's praise was centered on the unborn Savior, not Mary’s own nature or status.
Mary’s Magnificat: A Humble Heart Before God
Scripture Reference: Luke 1:46–56
Mary’s response, known as the Magnificat, is a powerful declaration of humility and faith. She says:
“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”– Luke 1:46–47
Mary acknowledges her need for salvation, clearly identifying Jesus as her Savior, not the other way around. She never asks for worship, prayer, or exaltation—her focus is entirely on glorifying God.
Catholic Doctrines About Mary: Contradictions to the Bible
-
Mary is not the “Mother of God” – Jesus is God, but this title confuses Christ’s divinity with Mary’s humanity. She is the mother of His humanity, not His divine nature.
-
Mary is not sinless – “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) She, too, needed a Savior.
-
Mary did not ascend into heaven – Scripture says only Jesus has ascended: “No one has ascended into heaven but He who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.” (John 3:13)
-
Mary is not the Queen of Heaven – This title belongs to a pagan goddess, not the biblical Mary.
-
Mary was not perpetually a virgin – Jesus had brothers and sisters (see Matthew 13:55–56).
-
Mary is not a mediator – “There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5)
-
Mary does not perform miracles or apparitions – There is no biblical support for Marian apparitions or supernatural powers after her earthly life.
The Pagan Roots of the "Queen of Heaven" Title
The title “Queen of Heaven” is never attributed to Mary in the Bible. Instead, it is linked to pagan worship condemned by God.
π₯ Jeremiah’s Warning:
“The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven... to provoke Me to anger.”– Jeremiah 7:18
“You will surely keep your vows and perform your vows... to the queen of heaven. Therefore this calamity has happened to you.”– Jeremiah 44:25–26
The "Queen of Heaven" was likely a reference to Ishtar (Babylonian) or Astarte (Canaanite), goddesses of fertility and astral worship. This idolatrous worship brought judgment upon Israel—and it still grieves God today when the same idolatry is practiced under a Christian guise.
Biblical Warnings Against Exalting Created Beings
“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.”– Romans 1:25
Worshipping or praying to Mary is a dangerous detour from the gospel. No saint, no angel, no created being deserves the worship that belongs to God alone.
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”– Acts 4:12
The Call to Come Out from False Traditions
“Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins...”– Revelation 18:4
This call applies today. God is calling His people to come out of man-made traditions and return to the pure, unaltered truth of His Word.
Final Words: Honor Mary, But Worship Jesus Alone
Mary was a godly woman—humble, faithful, and favored by the Lord. She fulfilled her calling with grace. But she was not divine, not sinless, and not worthy of worship. Let us honor her rightly by believing what she herself believed—that Jesus alone is Lord and Savior.
❌ Don’t worship her
❌ Don’t pray to her
✅ Follow her example of obedience to God
