Embracing True Faith: A Journey Beyond Religion
Many people seek God or attend church for personal gain—whether to build social connections, enhance their reputation, or advance their business interests. For some, church attendance is merely a ritual rather than a genuine pursuit of Christ. However, true faith in Christ calls for a deeper, more personal commitment that goes beyond external benefits.
The Cost of True Discipleship
Scripture warns that love for the world puts us in opposition to God. As 1 John 2:15 (NIV) states:
"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them."
Jesus made it clear that those who truly follow Him and preach His gospel will face opposition from the world. In John 15:18-19 (NIV), He said:
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."
A preacher who enjoys universal acceptance may not be delivering the unfiltered truth of the gospel. True faith invites persecution, but it also brings eternal rewards. Jesus assures us in Matthew 5:10 (NIV):
"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Seeking God for the Right Reasons
Many people follow Christ for what they can receive—miracles, material blessings, or personal satisfaction. However, Jesus desires followers who seek Him for who He is, not just what He can provide. In John 6:26-27 (NIV), He rebuked those who pursued Him merely for physical sustenance:
"Very truly I tell you, you are looking for Me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you."
True faith is rooted in a deep, unwavering commitment to Christ, rather than temporary desires. As Matthew 6:33 (NIV) encourages:
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
The Church: More Than a Building
As believers, we are the Church—the body of Christ. The presence of God is not confined to physical structures. Acts 17:24-25 (NKJV) reminds us:
"God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things."
We must never reduce God to a Sunday tradition. Instead, we are called to live in continual worship, aligning every aspect of our lives with His will.
Standing Firm Amidst Spiritual and Moral Challenges
The world today is rapidly shifting away from biblical values. Issues such as moral relativism, distorted ideologies, and increasing secularism threaten the foundation of Christian faith. Many churches are under pressure to conform, but we must remain steadfast. Romans 12:2 (NIV) warns us:
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will."
The coming days will test the faith of many believers. However, those who endure will receive God’s ultimate reward. Revelation 2:10 (NIV) encourages us:
"Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown."
Hope in the Return of Christ
For those who remain faithful, the promise of Christ’s return provides hope. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NIV), Paul describes the glorious moment:
"For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
There is no true peace until Christ reigns. Until then, we must remain vigilant, living in obedience and preparing our hearts for His return.
Honoring God's Commandments
God commanded that the seventh day—the Sabbath—be kept holy. Yet, many have replaced it with Sunday observance. Exodus 20:8-10 (NIV) states:
"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God."
Obedience to God’s commandments is a sign of our love for Him, as John 14:15 (NIV) says:
"If you love Me, keep My commands."
Conclusion: Walking in True Faith
To walk in true faith means to live in full surrender to Christ, free from worldly distractions and self-serving motives. It means being prepared to stand firm in the face of opposition, holding fast to God’s truth, and awaiting His glorious return.
Let us stay committed to Christ, seeking Him wholeheartedly and preparing for His glorious return. Are you ready to walk in true faith?
