The Divine Design of Marriage

“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:12

Marriage is not just a union between two individuals; it is a sacred covenant involving God, the husband, and the wife. Just as an electrical circuit requires both a plug and a socket to transmit power, a successful marriage requires the unique roles of husband and wife, both connected to the ultimate Source of Power—God. Without His presence, relationships risk falling into disarray.

God’s Purpose for Marriage

From the very beginning, God designed marriage to be a reflection of His divine plan. When He created Adam, it was not because He needed help tending to creation, but so Adam could enjoy a paradise filled with God’s splendor. God’s provision was complete, requiring no human effort to sustain it.

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” – Acts 17:24-25

Yet, because of sin, humanity fell from grace, and life became one of toil and hardship. However, through Christ, we can reclaim the blessings of God’s original design and restore our lives to divine alignment.

The Sinful Nature of Mankind

“There is none righteous, not even one; there is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God.” – Romans 3:10-11

Human nature is inherently flawed. No one is perfect, and all have fallen short of God’s glory. The Bible makes it clear that without redemption, sin separates us from His presence. This truth applies to every person, regardless of status or title.

God's Redemption Plan: Salvation Through Christ

Since mankind is incapable of achieving righteousness on its own, God, in His infinite mercy, provided a solution—Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice, we are offered redemption, forgiveness, and eternal life.

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

By embracing Christ, we are no longer under the curse of sin. Instead, we step into the fullness of God's provision, just as Adam did before the fall. Our lives, including our marriages, are restored through faith.

The Blessing of a God-Centered Marriage

A Wife is a Gift from God

“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” – Proverbs 18:22

A godly marriage is built on unconditional love, not worldly desires. When a relationship is based on wealth, power, or status, it lacks the true presence of God. However, when a husband and wife love each other as Christ loves the Church, their bond becomes unshakable.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” – Ephesians 5:25

The Role of God in Marriage

When a marriage is centered on God’s love and principles, it flourishes in every aspect—emotionally, spiritually, and even materially. However, when worldly desires take precedence, deception and division creep in. The enemy seeks to destroy God’s design for marriage, but a couple rooted in faith is protected.

“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” – John 8:44

A marriage built on God’s love cannot be broken. No deception, hardship, or temptation can separate what God has joined together.

Conclusion: Strengthening the Bond with God

Marriage is a divine institution, meant to reflect the unbreakable bond between Christ and His Church. By keeping God at the center, couples ensure that their love remains pure, resilient, and blessed.

If we follow His design, our marriages will not only survive but thrive. The key to a lasting, fulfilling union is found in faith, obedience, and unconditional love.
